چکیده

The brains from 14 adult common tree shrews (Tupaia glis) of both sexes were used for the study of hypothalamic blood supply. It is found that the hypothalamus is supplied by branches of arteries that form the circle of Willis. The preoptic region of the anterior hypothalamus is supplied by branches of anterior cerebral and anterior communicating arteries, while branches of the ophthalmic, anterior communicating and superior hypophysial arteries contribute blood to the optic chiasma. The infundibulum and the median eminence receive arterial supply from the circuminfundibular anastomosis deriving from superior hypophysial, posterior communicating as well as from tiny branches of ophthalmic arteries. The blood supply of the mammillary body comes from the posterior cerebral, posterior communicating and terminal part of basilar arteries. The venous blood from the circuminfundibular area is collected into 15 to 20 hypophysial portal veins flowing towards the par distalis of the pituitary gland. The veins from the tuberal and anterior mammillary regions drain into the premammillary vein while the postmammillary vein receives blood from postmammillary region. The premammillary and postmammillary veins drain into the network of venules forming by anterior cerebral and anterior communicating veins which run across the optic chiasma to join the basal vein on each side of interpeduncular fossa. They finally drain into the cavernous sinus and superior petrosal sinus.

Angioarchitecture of the coeliac sympathetic ganglion complex in the common tree shrew (Tupaia glis).

The angioarchitecture of the coeliac sympathetic ganglion complex (CGC) of the common tree shrew (Tupaia glis) was studied by the vascular corrosion cast technique in conjunction with scanning electron microscopy. The CGC of the tree shrew was found to be a highly vascularised organ. It normally received arterial blood supply from branches of the inferior phrenic, superior suprarenal and inferi...

Monoclonal antibody TSd-1 is specific to elongating and matured spermatids in testis of common tree shrew (Tupaia glis).

The monoclonal antibody (MAb), named TSd-1, specific to spermatogenic cells of the common tree shrew (Tupaia glis) was established and characterized using immunohistochemistry and immunoblotting. MAb TSd-1 reacted with elongating and matured spermatids in a stage-dependent manner. TSd-1 recognized a 94 kilodalton (kDa) peptide in the plasma membrane and cytosol. Additionally, an extremely weak ...

A lectin-histochemical study on the seminiferous epithelium of the northern smooth-tailed tree shrew (Dendrogale murina) and the Java tree shrew (Tupaia javanica).

Lectin-binding patterns in the testes of the northern smooth-tailed tree shrew, Dendrogale murina and Java tree shrew, Tupaia javanica were studied by light microscopy and compared the data with those of the common tree shrew. Four lectins (PNA, SBA, BPA and GS-II) were used in this study. Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) agglutinin (PNA), soybean (Glycine max) agglutinin (SBA) and Bauhinia purpurea a...

Identification of Glyceraldehyde 3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Sequence and Expression Profiles in Tree Shrew (Tupaia belangeri)

The tree shrews (Tupaia belangeri) diverged from the primate order (Primates) and are classified as Scandentia, a separate taxonomic group of mammals. The tree shrew has been suggested to use an animal model to study human disease but the genomic sequences of tree shrew is largely unidentified. Here we identified the full-length cDNA sequence of a housekeeping gene, Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate D...

Structural Organization of the Retina in the Tree Shrew (tupaia Glis)

This investigation was undertaken to establish the gross and ultrastructural organization of the photoreceptors and retina in the Malayan tree shrew (Tupaia glis). Photographs of the fundus revealed no specialization or differentiation of a central foveal region. Histologic sections revealed a single row of relatively short and thick cones distributed uniformly throughout the retina. Electron m...
